I went to the show on Thursday. The photographs were beautiful but they were disturbing, with the bodies through out the photographs. I loved the photograph of the black lab with the man in the background. I liked the contrast of the black on the red. My other favorite was the photograph of the waterfall with the body to the left of it. I didn't even notice the body until I looked closer at the photograph. I thought it was very effective. I was disturbed by the photograph but I liked the statement. It expressed to me that in the beauty of quiet and tranquil places, such as the waterfall in a small Massachusetts town, there can be unrest. It brought back memories of the novel Lovely Bones, which I liked very much.

Isn't it amazing the different emotional effects one can produce with a photograph? Did anything else in the images contribute to the disturbed feeling you described besides the body?
THe way I interpreted most of the photographs, I found them to be taken out happiness, and positive attitudes. The waterfall for example, the picture, in its entirety provoked feelings of happiness and beauty. Then, suddenly, the I noticed the girl laying in the grass. I found it to be so strange how most of the photos were shot like this, in a setting where everything else seemed to be going along per usual, with the lifeless bodies strewn about. Like the foot photograph, with the two women talking and then just the random foot in the picture... so strange.
